I few months ago I wrote a bot to do a certain task in Facebook and it does perform the task really well.
Then one day I got the wild hair to try something. When I started to put this bot out here on Facebook for people to use freely I decided to make my website available on a Fan page. That Fan page had more information on the bot but basically served as a launching pad for the app itself.
So I added a routine to my main bot to load up that Fan page as an initial step and this part of the bot only does one thing. It clicks on the “Like” button and then processing continues.
My logic is that if someone does not like it then they can quit running my bot and they can “UnLike” the Fan page.
So here is the code that accomplishes that.

Cool huh? Do you think it is deceitful? Why?
My logic is this, if you want to run my application then this automatic “Like” feature is the price. After all, you can always “UnLike” it.
Tell me your opinion.

I think it’s a great idea. You could maybe even have them click the share button, but don’t run the alert box in a thread so they can see that it’s going to share the application, and it gives them the option to click yes/no.
I would deff use something like this.
I think this is a good idea. Some might say that it is deceitful, I say it is borderline. A gray area if you will. As you said the user can unsubscribe at any time and this is the cost of using your software. (that you could be charging for)
My question is what happens if a year down the line FB changes URL of the like button and/or fanpages can you update your customers version of the script remotely or will they have to re download a new version?
Cheers,
Jay
i think thats a great idea! thanks
Ooops, blonde moment. I have the code, now I need to buy Ubot
great idea by the way..
